Edwards & Petersen Graduation Scholarship Winner

Congratulations to Our ASU Graduate!

Lauren LynchLauren M. Lynch is a recent Arizona State University graduate who is passionate about public service and researching and addressing policy issues impacting residents of Arizona. Earning a Bachelor’s degree in Public Service and Public Policy, Lauren was able to apply her knowledge to the community through a range of work experiences in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.

She interned at the City of Phoenix, Office of the Mayor Greg Stanton where she served as a constituent advocate, learning more about the issues that individuals face everyday in Phoenix and finding solutions to assist them. This experience encouraged her to continue her work in public service and policy because she believes that everyone should have equal access to resources they need to be successful and to achieve their goals.

Lauren is eager to continue her education and pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Policy in the fall of 2017. The Edwards & Petersen Scholarship will be used to assist Lauren in applying to graduate programs. She plans to dedicate her education, research, and future career to learning more about how to address various policy issues and creating effective policy legislation. She hopes that one day she can work for the United States federal government or perhaps run for public office.

In her spare time, Lauren enjoys reading, cooking, volunteering, and working out. She also plans to spend more time perfecting her golf game and enjoying the beautiful Arizona climate.

graduation hat setting on top of a hundred dollar bill

Scholarship fund of $350 to help with graduation day costs.

This is news to no one: college is expensive. It’s more than the ever-increasing cost of tuition, though. Books, lab fees, even eating and parking on campus add up to thousands of dollars each year. Though many of these costs don’t lead directly to your degree, they are an unavoidable, expensive reality of your path to graduation. Even the big day itself comes with its own list of expenses. At the minimum, you’ll pay for your graduation gown, cap, and tassel. Throw in graduation announcements, invitations, and pictures, and you’re facing yet another expense not covered by student loans. To assist with these special graduation costs, we’ve set up the Edwards & Peterson Graduation Scholarship fund. This $350 scholarship fund is designed to help you cover graduation costs and make sure you’re the best-dressed candidate during your upcoming job search.

Eligibility:

Applicants to the Edwards & Petersen Graduation Scholarship must meet the following criteria:

·         Be in their senior year and on track to graduate

·         Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

·         Complete and submit the Edwards & Petersen Graduation Scholarship Fund application by October 31, 2016

Participation:

The application process for the Edwards & Petersen Scholarship is designed to assist you in your post-college job interviews. Even if you’ve found success interning, you’ll likely still need to apply and interview for employment upon graduation. Though the range of potential interview questions is wide and varied, there are some which are commonly asked in any interview, regardless of industry. To that end, Edwards & Petersen will email three non-industry-specific interview questions to approved applicants. These are questions you’ll likely encounter during upcoming interviews. Provide your best possible answer in three sentences or less. We are looking for responses that are succinct yet compelling, and that thoroughly respond to each question.
